We want to thank everyone in the community who made the effort to decorate. It was great to see all the festive displays. It was incredibly hard to narrow it down to just three. We hope that everyone continues to get into the holiday spirit in the years to come.
So, without further ado, here are the winners!
1st Place
The gnomes have it!
Congratulations to Michelle Herren of the 3200 block of E. Heatherock Cir! She is this year’s 1st place winner of the Chimneystone Holiday Decorating Contest.
Michelle is a newer resident of the community and was ecstatic to hear she won! She absolutely loves Christmas and childhood memories were her inspiration for her fun and festive display. She very much kept children in mind when she created this display and hopes they find as much joy in the display as she did when she was a child seeing holiday decorations.
When not herding gnomes, community involvement is very much a passion of Michelle’s. She strives to help her neighbors and others in need, not just during the holidays but also year-round, she is an inspiration for all.
If you look closely, you can even see a tribute to her alma mater amongst all the gnomes. Whoop!
2nd Place
Congratulations to Cindy and Steven Gonzalez of the 3800 block of Kitchen Hill for their Grinchy display and the 2nd place winner this year.
The Grinch is Cindy’s absolute favorite and her inspiration for display. Her work in the construction industry and attention to detail were instrumental in her ability to cut out, paint, and display all just right (with a little help from Steven) in the creation of this fun and whimsical piece.
To say Christmas is her favorite time of year is putting in mildly. During the holidays she brings her creative decorating talents to others in the Houston and surrounding area as the XMAS_FAIRY. Her hope is to eventually spend more time inspiring people to DIY via her Instagram platform (@xmas_fairy).
Michelle takes pride in her home and is already gearing up for next year’s contest. We can’t wait to see what she creates.
We also want to congratulate Cindy and Steven who were married recently and wish them the very best!
3rd Place
Congratulation to John and Mindy of the 3800 block of Stovepipe!
John, Mindy and their son Nathan have been residents of the community for the past nine years and Christmas is a special time for their family.
The snowpeople in their display represent their family members with the deer representing the family dog.
Mindy shared that she really did not experience the huge love of Christmas until she met John and his family.
This year’s display was scaled back compared to previous years, but it has inspired them to go all out next year. We can’t wait!
